5 Days in the French Riviera

5 Days in the South of France (Stay in Nice)

The best way to see the French Riviera is to base yourself in Nice and take easy day trips by train, bus, or car. Here’s the perfect 5-day itinerary:

Day 1: Nice
  • Wander through Old Town (Vieux Nice) and the famous Cours Saleya market.

  • Swim in the Gatorade-blue waters along the Promenade des Anglais.

  • Sunset dinner at the iconic cliffside restaurant Le Plongeoir (reserve ahead!).

Day 2: Cannes
  • Relax on Cannes’ rare sandy beaches (most Riviera beaches are pebbly).

  • Explore the Old Town (Le Suquet) for cobblestone streets + hilltop views.

  • Walk the Croisette promenade and feel like you’re at the film festival.

Day 3: Antibes
  • Visit the Picasso Museum inside a seaside château.

  • Stroll through the charming Old Town and harbor.

  • Don’t miss the Bay of Billionaires — yachts + stunning coastal walks.

Day 4: Èze + Monaco
  • Morning: Head to Èze, a medieval village perched high on a hill. Go early to beat the crowds! 🌿

  • Afternoon/Evening: Train or drive to Monaco. See the Monte Carlo Casino, spot fancy cars, and people-watch with a cocktail.

Day 5: Villefranche-sur-Mer + Menton
  • Morning: Take the short 15-min train to Villefranche-sur-Mer for colorful waterfront views + a swim.

  • Afternoon: Continue to Menton, famous for its citrus 🍊🍋. Try the local limoncello made with French lemons!
